When starting out in online marketing there are two things that you want to do. The first is to identify the population that you want to target your products or promotions to. This is usually referred to as finding a niche. The reason behind finding a niche is to target the right people which in the long run saves you time and money. How does this save you money? Lets say your selling a stethoscope and you know that stethoscopes are used by doctors so you will target doctors or medical students to sell your stethoscope to rather than trying to sell them to an engineer or mathematician who have no use for them. If you are an expert in your field or have a particular hobby that you enjoy than you already have your niche. All you have to do is ask yourself what is needed in that particular field and provide it. Solving the problem will be what you have to offer, but I will talk about that in Finding Your Product. Don’t worry if your not an expert or don’t have any hobbies. What you want to do is start using google to find out what people are interested in or just keep a good ear out to listen to what people are saying around you. If you don’t already know google keeps track of the top 100 keywords people are using on a daily basis. What you do to view this is go to google and type in “Google Hot Trends” and the top 100 keywords will pop-up. Look over the list and use it as a guide to help you figure out what people are interested and what type of people they might be. By doing so you can come up with something you might want to promote or a problem you know how to solve. Once you have gotten an idea of who you are going to target its time to find your product.
